The highlights of the conference titled "Consumer Trends and Prominent Investment Areas in the New Normal" held on 16 December 2020 with the participation of the international consultancy company McKinsey & Company Turkey Managing Partners İlke Bigan and Togay Özen under the moderation of Abdullah Çerekçi, Chairman of the Foreign Investments Business Council, are as follows:
• With the start of the pandemic consumers' arbitrary spending, other than their essential needs, decreased by 50%. Companies need to act according to this new macroeconomic balance.
• Economically, it will take 2022 for investments and expenditures to return to their pre pandemic state. Although there is a high probability that vaccines and applications will start to be effective in the second half of next year, the normalization process of people may vary according to the sector and region.
• In addition to the contraction and loss of income in various sectors such as energy and aviation, there are also sectors that significantly increased their business volume. This differentiation between services and sectors can only be balanced in the medium term.
