“ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN TURKEY AND GERMANY SHOULD NOT BE DISTURBED WITH UNFOUNDED NEWS”

DEİK's Vardan: "Economic relations between Turkey and Germany should not be disturbed with unfounded news"

"As the representatives of the Turkish business world, we condemn unreal news aiming to escalate the current tension between Turkey and Germany and the ones publishing them. Turkey for Germany and Germany for Turkey are important and strategic economic partners. German companies have century-old investments in Turkey, while German citizens with Turkish origin have been contributing to German economy for more than 50 years. In such a context, the relations between Turkey and Germany shouldn't be disturbed through unfounded news and information.

As DEİK, we wish the decrease of the tension between Turkey and Germany through cautious statements instead of the ones based on incorrect information. Statements from the Turkish President and the Government also support the groundlessness of these rumors.

All foreign companies in Turkey operating for long years, including German, French, Italian and Dutch ones, have never been subject to any mistreatment; instead they have been accepted as Turkish firms. When we talk to representatives of these companies, who are also member at DEİK, we observe that there is not a slight change on their investments plans and targets in Turkey. We specifically underline this fact in a time when a negative perception of our relations with Germany has been built up, often intentionally.
