PAKISTAN CONTINUES TO ATTRACT INVESTMENT
The Investment Conference in Lahore, Pakistan hosted by the Pencap Prime Minister Şahbaz Şerif, has drawn Turkish business community's attention. DEİK/Turkey-Pakistan Business Council Chairman Atilla Yerliaya emphasized that Pakistan has progressed in the fields of security and energy thus has become an investment destination.
The Investment Conference in the capital of Pakistan's biggest state Pencap was participated by over 60 Turkish Businesspeople. DEİK/Turkey-Pakistan Business Council Chairman Atilla Yerlikaya stated in his opening speech that Pakistani government progressed tremendously over the 5 years in the fields of energy and security. Turkish companies such as Zorlu Energy, Albayrak Group, and Arçelik have increased their investments in Pakistan and if Pakistan succeeds to continue its reforms it will attract more investment. Pakistan is not a limited market as it used to be, it is now attractive and developing market thanks to rising security conditions and FTA between Turkey and Pakistan. Coca-Cola İçecek has been continuously investing in Pakistan since 2010 and it is proud to be the largest investors in Pakistan. It has an investment over 500 million USD Dollars and employs over thousands of people in 6 factories. "I believe that trade and investment will increase with the FTA and with the efforts of the Pakistani government. Within this scope, besides energy and health sectors, Turkish construction sector will be successful too. Turkey is experienced and successful in the area of Hotel Management and Pakistan needs to develop that sector as well. Plus, sympathy towards Turkish products is promising. Our export potential will flourish with the new agreement and new customs regulations" said Mr. Yerlikaya.
