TURKISH AND PALESTINIAN BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVES MET IN ISTANBUL

Turkey-Palestinian Business Council's 14th Joint Meeting was held in Istanbul on 2 November 2017 with the participation of DEIK/Turkey-Palestinian Business Council Chairman Cemalettin Kerim, Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara Faed Mustafa and Palestinian-Turkish Business Council Chairman Osama Amro. Turkish and Palestinian business representatives from the energy, food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, plastics and construction sectors attended the meeting.

DEIK/Turkey-Palestinian Business Council Chairman Cemalettin Kerim reminded that the trade volume is around 5 million US Dollars between 2005 and 2015. Kerim stated that the volume has increased to 100 million US dollars in 2007. According to Kerim, the trade volume of Turkey and Palestine has grown regularly by 10 percent in the last 3 years. Kerim also stated the Business Council's visit to Palestine in May and the meeting with the business world representatives in the cities of Jerusalem, Ramallah, Nablus, Hebron and Jenin. Kerim, who indicated the presence of workforce in Palestine, said that Palestine needs new business areas, projects, factories and emphasized the investment opportunities in the sectors such as solar energy and food.

Faed Mustafa, Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara, said that the relations between the two countries are not only politically but also culturally and economically important. Mustafa stated that relations between the two countries do not reflect the potential and pointed to the profitability of investing and trading in Palestine. Mustafa expressed that they are ready to give all kinds of support to representatives of Turkish business world as an Embassy.

Palestinian-Turkish Business Council Chairman Osama Amro stated that they saw Turks as brothers. Amro, who invited representatives of Turkish business world to evaluate their investment opportunities in Palestine, stated that Palestine has high demand for Turkish products and great opportunities.

Bilateral business meetings were held after the opening speeches of the meeting.
