In 2012, the DEİK/Türkiye-Ecuador Business Council was established. In 2016, an official delegation led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a historic visit to Ecuador. It marked the first official visit to the country by a Turkish President. ProEcuador, which is the promotion agency for Ecuador's exports and investments and DEİK signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
