The Establishment Agreement for the DEİK/Türkiye-Iran Business Council was signed in 2001 with the Counterpart Organisation Iran Chamber of Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA). The purpose of the Council is to grow trade volume. The objectives of the Council are: elimination of barriers in the way of stable relations, encouragement of cooperation in areas that can serve as basis for economic and trade relations, in particular in banking, transport, contracting and bilateral investments, and the identification of concrete areas of cooperation. The plan of the Council for the near future is to inform the business communities in both countries about present and potential business opportunities.
