The Establishment Agreement for the DEİK/Türkiye Austria Business Council was signed on 26 June 1996 on the occasion of a state visit by the then Austrian Chairman, Dr. Thomas Klestil, to Türkiye. The document was signed in Istanbul with the Wirtschaftskammer Österreich – theAustrian FederalEconomicChamber acting as counterpart organisation. The purpose of the Business Council is to improve bilateral trade, joint investments and technological cooperation, and to encourage collaboration in third countries. The Council’s further tasks are information of the respective business communities and the identification of potential areas of cooperation. The Council’s activities are focussed on the following main areas: energy, infrastructure projects, transport equipment, machine building, environmental technologies, agriculture-based industries, health, tourism, construction and financing.
