DEİK/Türkiye-Czechia Business Council was established in 1991 when DEİK and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tchekoslovakia signed an Establishment Agreement. The first meeting was held in 1992. A year later, the state split into the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. Since then the Czech Chamber of Commerce has been acting as Counterpart Organisation in the Council.
The main areas of cooperation between private sector companies of both countries are construction, machinery and equipment, energy contracting projects, banking and finance, tourism, the iron and steel industry, the automotive industry and its supplying industry, the cement industry and the defence industry. The Council has focussed its activities on those areas in order to strengthen the economic ties between our countries and in this context organises high-level official talks and business forums. The Council holds meetings and seminars to provide a platform for contacts between the business communities of both countries, it informs about the local markets and business opportunities, and supports companies in finding suitable partners.
