The DEİK/Türkiye-Slovakia Business Council was established in September 1991 when DEİK and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chekoslovakia signed an Establishment Agreement. The first meeting was held in 1992. In 1993, the state split into the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. Since February 1995 the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been acting as Counterpart Organisation in the new Council which was renamed to DEİK/Türkiye-Slovakia Business Council.

The Council holds its regular Joint Business Council Meetings and organises various sector-based visits and other events, participates in high-level official contacts and supports fairs and trade exhibitions. Besides activities directed at the Slovak business community with the purpose of promoting the Turkish business community and the Turkish market, the Council is also engaged in social and cultural organisations designed to inform about the country, its people and history.

Vice versa, for the near future the Council has scheduled activities to introduce the Slovak market to the Turkish business community. The Slovakia Days are to be organised in cooperation with local chambers of commerce.
