In 2010, DEİK signed an agreement on the establishment of the DEİK/Türkiye-Yemen Business Council with the Federation of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry acting as Counterpart Organisation. The purpose of the Council is to grow trade volume. In this context, the Council is working on the identification and removal of trade barriers, reconstruction of trade and economic fundamentals. This includes banking connections, transport and standards. Another objective of the Council is the identification of concrete areas of cooperation.
Due to the civil war in Yemen and the general instability in the country, the Council is currently focussing its activities on the community of Yemeni businessmen in Türkiye.
