The DEİK/Türkiye-Croatia was established in 1995 with the purpose of developing trade relations between the two countries and in particular their transport, telecommunication, air and sea connections. Specific areas of interest for joint investments were defined as following: ship building, textiles, food, construction, logistics, new technologies and tourism.
Türkiye has strong historic, cultural and social ties with the Balkans, and Croatia, which became a member of the European Union in 2013, is one of the most developed countries in the region. Advanced bilateral economic relations with this country are therefore an important step toward the establishment of good economic and trade ties with the entire Balkans. The Turkish-Croatian cooperation offers investment opportunities in particular in infrastructure and transport projects but also opens the possibility of joint projects in third countries.
