DEİK/Türkiye–U.S. Business Council (TAİK) is the oldest and most prominent bilateral business organization between Türkiye and the United States. Established in 1985 through the leadership of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and former Turkish Prime Minister Turgut Özal, TAİK was founded to advance trade, industrial cooperation, and mutual investment between the two countries. Today, TAİK represents Türkiye’s leading private enterprises, whose investments support billions of dollars in economic activity in the United States and employ tens of thousands of American workers.

TAİK’s mission is to advance and strengthen U.S.–Türkiye economic relations by fostering strategic partnerships, supporting mutual investment, and facilitating business collaboration. In addition to promoting bilateral trade and foreign direct investment, TAİK places particular emphasis on joint Turkish–American initiatives in third markets—especially in regions such as Central Asia, Syria, Venezuela and Africa—where companies from both countries can cooperate to deliver competitive and sustainable solutions. TAİK also works to identify legal, regulatory, and practical challenges affecting cross-border business and conveys policy recommendations to relevant authorities.

TAİK focuses on a broad range of priority sectors reflecting the depth and diversity of U.S.–Türkiye economic relations. These include energy, infrastructure, banking and finance, defense and security, automotive, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, digital content and media, culture and arts, corporate relations, and foreign trade, as well as direct foreign investment and engagement with key political and economic stakeholders in both countries.

TAİK’s flagship activities are anchored in three high-profile annual events that serve as key platforms for advancing U.S.–Türkiye economic relations. American–Turkish Conference (ATC), jointly organized with the American Turkish Business Roundtable (ATBR) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., is the most comprehensive forum on bilateral economic relations, bringing together senior business leaders, policymakers, and government officials to address topics such as bilateral investment, energy, defense, tourism, third-country partnerships, and digital content and entertainment. The Türkiye Investment Conference (TRICON), held annually in New York City on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly Week, convenes senior Turkish government officials with Fortune 100 companies and leading U.S. investors to highlight Türkiye’s investment environment and strategic opportunities. GO! GLOBAL Türkiye focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship, connecting Türkiye’s leading startups with global venture capital firms to foster partnerships and support the growth of globally competitive companies.

Together, these three events underscore TAİK’s role in promoting Türkiye’s economic potential in the United States and strengthening awareness of Türkiye as a strategic partner, production hub, and investment destination for American companies, while supporting collaboration across traditional industries and emerging sectors.
