On 6 June 2016, DEİK and the Congo Federation of Industry (FEC) signed an agreement to establish DEİK/Türkiye-Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Kongo) Business Council. The Business Council organises business forums, delegation visits, meetings and seminars with the goal of advancing Türkiye's economic ties with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
DR Kongo is home to the mighty Congo river that has the stream with the highest flow rate in the world. The country has a significant hydroelectric energy potential. The country’s economy is mainly based on agriculture, mining and forestry. The country has substantial diamond, gold and uranium ore deposits.
