Following the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs declaration of 2006 as the Year of Latin America, the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) developed a strategy titled "Enhancement of Bilateral Trade and Economic Relations" for the region, putting it into effect. On January 20, 2006, a declaration of intent was signed for the establishment of the DEİK/Türkiye-Brazil Business Council.
The council aims to inform and bring together business communities in both countries through organizing conferences, seminars, and bilateral meetings.
