TÜRKİYE - NORTH MACEDONIA BUSINESS COUNCIL

Year of Establishment: 1995
Chairperson representing Türkiye: Vedat Ergünbaş
Company: Ergünbaş Yapı Sanayi A.Ş.
Counterpart Organisation: Economic Chamber of Macedonia
Counterpart Chairperson: Branko Azeski
Company: Chair of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia

On November 6, 1995 both sides held a meeting to establish Business Council and declared their commitment to the progress of positive political and economic ties between their countries. Council’s establishment desire are to expand trade volume, information exchange, provision of a platform, where problems regarding the countries’ trade and economic relations can be discussed, lobbying activities to achieve political and legislative solutions for identified problems, the establishment of agencies that guarantee non-trade investments, cooperation between the countries’ banking sectors and the establishment of joint banks, agricultural cooperation and collaboration on the introduction of standards. However, diversification and the desired expansion of investments by Turkish companies in Macedonia require closer communication between the Business Council and Macedonian authorities, in particular the Macedonian Investment Agency.

The strong ties with the Counterpart Organisation now need to be diversified. Focal areas of cooperation are the marble, food packaging and milk processing sectors where the Council is trying to match suitable partners.
