In 2006, the Qatari Businessmen Association signed an agreement with DEİK on the establishment of the DEİK/Türkiye-Qatar Business Council. The purpose of the Council is to boost the trade volume between the two countries and to identify and develop business and investment opportunities in Türkiye and Qatar. In this context, the Council organises meetings of members of their business communities on various platforms and ensures the exchange of information on potential business areas. The Council works on attracting Qatari capital to Türkiye and on promoting the Turkish economy in Qatar. In the light of the 2022 World Cup to be hosted by Qatar, the Council focusses its efforts on the sectors of construction, health and food, and on defence industry cooperation.
